BIG encompasses over 50 member groups worldwide, which are breast cancer focused collaborative research groups and data centres. Some BIG groups are regional, some are national or even international.
Each member group is associated with one to several hundred member hospitals and investigators, creating a global network of thousands institutions worldwide that are working together towards one goal: better treatments for breast cancer patients... and ultimately finding a cure.

The China Medicine Education Association (CMEA) is a national level, academic, non-profit organisation. The Breast Disease Professional Committee of CMEA (BDPCC) is a secondary branch of the CMEA, which was established on 30 January 2015. The BDPCC has 415 members, most of whom are breast surgeons, oncologists and pathologists from 30 provinces in China. The BDPCC aims to contribute to the improvement of standards of care and quality of life of patients by participating in national and international clinical trials, offering continuous education for physicians, holding breast cancer conferences and symposiums as well as launching an important multicentre prospective observational study with the purpose of collecting breast cancer tissue samples for further sequencing and analysis. Bringing local experience and knowledge, the BDPCC will contribute to better serve breast cancer physicians and patients, both in China and beyond

The Cancer Therapeutics Research Group (CTRG) was formed in October 1997 by Professor John Wong (National University Health System) and Professor James Bishop (Sydney Cancer Centre and University of Sydney) to develop new therapeutic strategies for cancers common to Asia-Pacific. This resulted in a joint research group which performs clinical trials on new anti-cancer drugs in Asia-Pacific, and aims to be the equivalent of oncology cooperative groups in the USA. The CTRG has rapidly established itself and is now recognised as the leading group for evaluating new therapeutic strategies in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Korean Cancer Study Group (KCSG) is a multicentre oncology clinical trials group representing Korea. It was established on 12 June 1998 and constantly attempts to advance oncology through collaborative cancer studies, presenting rational policy to improve anti-cancer therapies and clinical trial practices, with the ultimate goal of fostering and enhancing public health. We have 720 members from 110 institutes or hospitals in Korea, and most of our members are well-trained and highly motivated medical oncologists. KCSG consists of a protocol review committee, an IRB (Institutional Review Board), a planning committee, an education committee, an international relationship committee, a public relations committee, and 10 disease committees including the Breast Cancer Committee. KCSG has its own data centre. CRAs (Clinical Research Associates), data managers and biostatisticians from the data centre work on study coordination, regulatory affairs, monitoring and data management. We also hold meetings for education, such as the Clinical Research Methodology Workshop, the Clinical Trial Education Workshop, the Institutional Review Board Workshop, and Collaborative R & D (Research & Development) Symposiums. Recently, an independent QC (Quality Control) committee was incorporated into the data centre to facilitate quality issues, which is outsourced. Our global partners for cooperative activities include ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group), the EORTC (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer), AGITG (Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group), SWOG (South West Oncology Group) and TRIO (Translational Research in Oncology).

The Austrian Breast & Colorectal Cancer Study Group (ABCSG), a not-for-profit organisation, is Austria’s biggest and best-established academic research organisation that successfully performs international clinical trials focusing on the subject of breast and colorectal cancer, and more recently also on pancreatic cancer and liver metastasis. ABCSG has over time and with great dedication achieved a very highly positive public reputation and patient commitment. In some indications, more than 35 percent of all breast cancer patients with a given diagnosis are recruited into ABCSG trials. Their findings have received international recognition and have made a significant contribution towards improving patients' chances of recovery and survival. The International Breast Cancer Intervention Studies group is led by Professor Jack Cuzick at the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine, Queen Mary University of London. The IBIS group specialise in conducting large-scale breast cancer prevention trials in high risk women. The IBIS trials (IBIS-I, IBIS-II Prevention, IBIS-II DCIS and IBIS-3) have collectively recruited and randomised over 14,000 women. Professor Cuzick and the IBIS group’s contribution to the field have been recognised through several prestigious awards, multiple high impact publications and have actively shaped national policies for the management of women at increased risk of breast cancer. The Latin American Cooperative Oncology Group (LACOG) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2008 by a group of Latin American medical oncologists interested in the development of clinical research. This is the first multinational cooperative group in Latin America exclusively dedicated to clinical and translational research in cancer. The group has 225 investigator members from 110 institutions from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, México, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay. The LACOG Coordinating Office, located in Porto Alegre, Brazil, has the facilities to assist investigators with their study concept, protocol development and management, monitoring, data management, pharmacovigilance and statistical analysis. The group also develops educational courses in clinical research focusing on sharing of the latest information about clinical trial development.

The Israeli Breast Cancer Group (IBCG) is a part of the Israeli Society for Medical oncology and Radiation Therapy (ISCORT) It is comprised of medical oncologists and radiation therapists whose main clinical and basic research interest is breast cancer. There are 20 hospitals with an active oncology department in Israel, as well as some community-based oncologists. 7 of the hospitals have a full-scale radiation therapy department and 6 additional hospitals have accrued this year the Intrabeam system for intraoperative radiation therapy. Most hospitals have a very active clinical trial program with multiple international trials accruing patients
ICRC / Iran
Iranian Cancer Research Center (ICRC) is a well-known comprehensive cancer center, located at the Tajrish Shohada hospital, Tehran, Iran, and was established in 2005. At ICRC, around 5000 breast cancer patients and 600 new breast cancer patients are managed annually. Currently, 3 hospitals are affiliated with ICRC, including Tajrish Shohada Hospital, Khatam Hospital, and Azar Center.

Established in 1980, the Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG) is a cancer research cooperative group that provides unique expertise and infrastructure to conduct national and international multicentre phase I-III cancer clinical trials aimed at improving the survival and quality of life of cancer patients across all cancer types. It is one of the national programmes of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) CCTG collaborates extensively both nationally and internationally and has a network of more than 80 member institutions which includes over 2100 Canadian Investigators. Internationally CCTG has collaborated with single sites, and other cooperative groups around the world as global collaboration is essential to the success of clinical trials and has been critical in moving the cancer research agenda forward.
