Part-time Senior Philanthropy Partnerships Advisor

Function: The part-time Senior Philanthropy Partnerships Advisor at BIG HQ works the equivalent of one or two days a week to identify, cultivate and engage partnerships with businesses and foundations, in close collaboration with other team members, in particular the Philanthropy Partnerships Coordinator.

Primary Responsibilities:

Together with the Philanthropy Partnerships Coordinator and other team members

  • Advises in developing the global philanthropy strategy, specifically as it relates to partnerships:
  • Solicits and maximizes financial support from foundations and corporate sources in Belgium and at an international level
    • Proactively seeks, analyses, and initiates new proposals and engagement opportunities for businesses, based on corporate guidelines and interests
    • Sets-up and attends meetings to foster corporate / foundation support
  • Provides advice related to specific areas:
    • Content for sponsorship packages for events (e.g., gala dinners, virtual or live sports, cultural, musical, corporate or other events, both national and international)
    • Communication tools required for sponsorship and partnerships, including cases for support, tailored newsletters, etc.
    • Annual campaigns, contributing to awareness about them among actual and potential donors, especially corporate and foundation partners, and secure matching gifts to be offered during campaigns
  • Follows publicly available or other information that is relevant to planning in the philanthropy domain and shares it within the philanthropy team as appropriate
  • Supports the philanthropy team by providing, if needed, input on various subjects such as technical tools (website, CRM, fundraising platforms, filing, etc.), communications (social media messaging, annual report, specific campaigns, newsletters, etc.), debriefing of past events / activities and planning of new ones

Qualifications sought:

  • Master’s degree or relevant professional experience (minimum of 20 years) in corporate relations, partnerships development and management, preferably in a non-profit, philanthropic environment
  • Fluent written and spoken Dutch, French and English.  Other languages are an asset
  • Brings large existing portfolio of contacts who can be solicited to rally around BIG’s cause
  • Knowledge of corporate fundraising techniques: information-gathering, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Strong ability to identify how businesses can help support the breast cancer research cause, as well as having empathy for those affected by the disease
  • Demonstrated ability in proposal writing and good business/marketing understanding to design attractive partnership programmes
  • Experience in budget management, reporting and tracking of performance
  • An excellent team-player, eager to work collaboratively in a small team; enthusiastic contributor to team goals, and able to accept and incorporate feedback
  • Able to prioritize and multitask as well as work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills, with large groups as well as with individuals, resulting in lasting, productive relationships
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, narrative and persuasive writing, as well as oral presentation
  • Energetic, goal-oriented, hands-on, and creative

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with donor records management systems is a plus
