Communications Coordinator (M/F)
Function: Provides support to the philanthropy and scientific communications teams, working very closely with other team members, by assisting with a broad variety of communications-related tasks.
Primary responsibilities:
Works closely with the Communications Managers and other team members to execute communications related to various activities such as, but not limited to:
- BIG against breast cancer’s philanthropic events (virtual and in-person) and partnerships
- BIG’s scientific teams active in network, building relationships with BIG member groups, and communicating key messages to the scientific community at large.
Assists in the use and management of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), by drafting, scheduling, posting content, tracking and analyzing analytics, developing ways to improve BIG’s/BIG against breast cancer’s public visibility and increase number of followers / supporters
Using latest communications technologies, creates, and/or manages a service provider to create, and maintains BIG’s/BIG against breast cancer’s graphics and materials, including infographics, social media graphics, invitations, special campaigns, event signage, fiscal attestations, greeting cards, newsletters, brochures, factsheets, background briefs, PowerPoint presentations, templates and reports.
Manages the image/graphic acquisition and files for all of BIG/ BIG against breast cancer’s staff to use.
Helps to upgrade and maintain the existing website using new tools (e.g., Wordpress)
Supports web content creation, posting and page design (English, Dutch, French).
Assists in press and public relation campaigns, e.g., research / draft press releases, manage media lists and contact databases, conducts media monitoring using related tools
Assists in promoting and achieving a consistent style and messaging throughout internal and external communications
As needed, drafts and proofreads various documents for publications, annual report, website and social media content
As needed, serves as contact person / coordinator for designers, printers, translators and other service providers
Assists in a variety of administrative tasks using a variety of tools, including CRM and fundraising platform
Watches trends in new communications tools and is eager to learn and use them (tech-savvy) whenever needed to keep communications dynamic and relevant
Participates in philanthropy department and other BIG HQ events
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience and/or internships
Is “tech-savvy” and at ease with digital communication in general and social media in particular
Comfortable with a wide variety of technical and creative software packages, and able to learn new ones quickly (e.g., CRM, iRaiser, Adobe Creative Cloud, Hootsuite, Canva, Mailchimp, Cision, etc.)
Excellent written and spoken Dutch, English, and French. Other languages are a plus
Flexible and well-organized, problem-solving oriented
Works well within a diverse team and independently
Adheres to the highest ethical standards
